MarineBio on Facebook

Welcome to MarineBio!

MarineBio is here to call attention to marine conservation issues and to provide the information necessary to inspire action and create solutions needed to restore and protect the ocean for marine life, and ultimately, for ourselves and future generations. Find out more about our mission and goals »

MarineBio began in 1998 as an evolving online tribute to ocean life and an introduction to marine biology and marine conservation. MarineBio is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteer marine biologists, students, professors, and conservation advocates working to share the wonders of the ocean realm inspiring marine science education, research, and a sea ethic.

We invite you to explore the depths of MarineBio and find out more about marine species, ocean conservation, marine life and conservation research, and become a MarineBio Society member.

The ocean gives us life. It provides the majority of our oxygen, the rain, food, excitement, wonder, and mystery. The ocean buffers the weather and helps regulate global temperature, manages vast amounts of our pollutants, contains all kinds of amazing creatures, and supports all life on our planet. But—the ocean is just now beginning to be understood and with that understanding comes the increasing realization that the ocean is in deep trouble. Marine conservation efforts are simply overwhelmed by the number and scale of the problems the ocean faces.

Get Involved

Join us in our efforts to make sure that the ocean's wonders thrive and survive... together we WILL make a difference. Become a MarineBio Society member, join the Plankton Forums, and make your voice heard in the MarineBio Blog.

We invite you to join MarineBio and support our work to bridge the gap between science and conservation. 100% of your membership fee will be used to keep the MarineBio Network growing. Help us expand MarineBio with more fascinating facts and captivating videos and photos of marine life, which help spread awareness about the urgent need for marine conservation.
